FOR
HER

With Mother's Day
just around the corner, by now you should be thinking of something
to give her on that very special day. What makes her squeal with delight
and what warms her heart the most?
You are probably thinking about picture frames,
or a bunch of roses, or maybe a tour package to spend time with Daddy
or perhaps a simple card.… But apart from all those presents, what
is IT that will make a perfect gift for Mommy, Inay, Nanay, Nana,
Mom, or Mama to make her day a lot more special?
It's really very simple: A Hug, A Kiss and An
I LOVE YOU! It may seem easy, but then again, maybe not, because it
delves deep inside the emotional side of a human being, which is not
really what most of us want to dig into. But hey, try being mushy
for once in your life… SHE deserves that!
A Hug
A hug, defined as an extension of both arms in an act of embrace provides
a wonderful experience where you don't have to spend a single peso!
When was the last time you gave your mother a hug? Did you ever imagine
how she'll feel when she receives a hug from her son or daughter,
after say, 2 years?
Remember the feeling of being locked into a tight squeeze and never
wanting to let that person go? The power of touch can actually heal,
calm and warm a person's heart and this hug can erase a lifetime of
sorrow and misery, melting all her troubles away.
A Kiss
An effortless gesture such as a kiss can actually make up for all
the lost time with mommy, all the times you've chosen that date with
your girlfriend over her, the days you've passed up washing the dishes
and for all the times you've failed to give her a call from all the
other side of the world.
And though you're through your senior year in High School and you're
way past your thumb-sucking era, it's never too late to give mom a
sweet, smothering kiss. Whether a baby kiss, a butterfly kiss or an
Eskimo kiss where you rub your noses together, no one is ever too
old neither too young to enjoy the experience of giving and receiving
a kiss…most especially your mother.
An I Love You
Oftentimes, LOVE becomes an emotion seldom expressed especially to
family, with the assumption that it need not be expressed if it is
a known fact. You might say that you don't NEED to tell your mom three
powerful words that can renew the ties that bind you, but her WANTING
IT should justify the act alone.
A mother will forever WANT to hear words of love and endearment to
make it easier for her to get through working or even cooking dinner
at home. Saying I Love you even once in a while would make for a stress
free day, a smile that can never be erased, a feeling that will be
remembered till gray hair days…even though you're continents apart.
Another perfect way to show mom that you love and care for her… not
only on Mother's day but all through the 364 remaining days in the
year.
Think about it. After all the diapers she's changed
for you, helping you win that battle against the bully in class, all
the peanut butter sandwiches and that handkerchief to cry on when
your first boyfriend left you, she is undoubtedly worthy of all three.
After all, it won't cost you too much money. It
will, however cost MORE than money. It will take you a lot of courage
to give such gifts like these, and it can never compare to picture
frames, travel packages and flowers, although it won't really hurt
to buy your mom some of these….
But most importantly, taking an ounce of courage
to be human and get in touch with that emotional side of yours is
truly an extraordinary gift. Whether once a lifetime or habitually,
it's your choice. Anyway, it's Mother's Day…
