Tempting Treats at Tri Noma
by Dulce Amor Niño
May 2007

I was on my way home last May 16. After I got off from the MRT North Avenue Station, I realized, Tri Noma, the newest mall in Quezon City had just opened its doors!

Officially inaugurated on that day, it was a good chance for me to see what’s in store. I strolled around, and I thought of taking some pictures fresh on its first day to share with you.

Tri Noma (Triangle North of Manila), strategically built on the sides of EDSA, North Avenue and Mindanao Avenue, sprawls on a 195,000-square meter land. It is again an MRT-accessible mall like the Gateway, Robinson’s Galleria, Megamall, Shangri-la and Glorietta. Further, it has a distinct conceptual design with an eye-catching water feature on its exterior. The facade is accented with a fountain and reverse waterfall.

Owned by Ayala Malls, it boasts a total of 550 retail spaces, some of which will be opening soon, including Landmark Department Store and Supermarket, and a hotel. Aside from these, it also has one scenic elevator, 7 passenger elevators, 46 escalators, 78 restrooms and 3,219 parking slots.

An array of restaurants, perfect for alfresco dining, is highlighted on the main building. The first level is mostly occupied by fastfood chains, and stores offering different services such as money remittance, shipment and the like. Onto the middle of this level is the Activity Center. The second level has a line-up of Teen, Sports, IT and High-end shops. The third level, on the other hand, is where the Home, Wellness, and Kids sections are found. Located on the fourth level are Timezone, other dining outlets, the rooftop park, and 6 cinemas with a capacity of 300, while the seventh cinema can accommodate as much as 600.

No wonder, shopping is an entirely fun-filled experience at Tri Noma, giving an opportunity for everyone of different lifestyles and ages to savor their stay. Regular mall hours are from 10am to 9pm (Sundays to Thursdays) and 10am to 10pm (Fridays and Saturdays). Food aficionados and movie buffs can enjoy until 2am, as the restaurants and cinemas are open up to this time.

So then, mall-crazy Metro Manila has yet another alternative to momentarily escape the city’s heat and pollution. I do, too, hope the Philippine economy improves so more Filipinos can enjoy the luxury the country has to offer.
