What exactly is a "romantic place"? Some love-struck (and loveless) folks, gave us some ideas of what these sites should possess to be called "romantic." Sure enough, we located numerous perfectly dreamy spots in the Philippines. Discover these places and reminisce about the memories that they may have created for you.

Great heights and cool weather.

A spectacular view of the metropolis with its sparkling lights like bright stars below one's feet, complete with a cool breeze, can induce an overwhelming emotion, most especially if held in between one's lovers arms…

· Tagaytay, Cavite. Its cool atmosphere can stimulate the most heartfelt emotions with a breathtaking view of Taal Volcano's craters and its surrounding lake. "Little nipa huts along the road provided us a great ambiance," narrates Vanessa, 21 as she recalls having dinner with her love, overlooking the lights of the city below, the stars above, and the moon glistening on the calm waters of Taal Lake. · Sumulong Highway, towards Antipolo. Several bars and restaurants along this thoroughfare feature a spectacular show of lights dancing in the metropolis below, without the busy sounds and the polluted air. Just like Tagaytay, the scenery may transport you to a world only both of you will know. · Via Mare, Tektite Ortigas. At the heart of Metro Manila is a place with a fantastic view of the hustle and bustle of urban brightness. Raquel, 24, recalls celebrating their first year anniversary in Via Mare. "He wanted to bring me to a classy place," she says. Although pretty expensive, couples can certainly enjoy a luscious meal towering over most of the country's capital. · Baguio. The crisp, cool air, the scent of fresh pines and blooming flowers and the breathtaking sight beneath you can stir up wonderful vibes. A picnic basket of goodies, some sweet music and freshly picked flowers can make a girl feel like a princess alone with her prince in a paradise of their own.

Water and Sand.

The country's most wonderful beaches in the world are great havens for couples who would want some time out from the rest of the world. Bask in the splendor of sand, sea and sun as it sets on the horizon.

Cheche, 25, claims that the beach has done wonders for her and her present love. "We were on the shore from sunset to moonset," she recounts, adding that, "I guess it was the ambiance of it all that hit me, coz it made me realize how much he already meant to me."

Here are a few of the countless shorelines and islands that can indeed spark up feelings never before imagined.

· Luzon: Puerto Galera, Puerto Azul, Cavite shores (such Caylabne Bay Resort and Island Cove) · Visayas: Boracay, Guimaras, Calangaman Island and Badian Bay in Cebu · Mindanao: Dakak, Sulu Sea in Zamboanga, Samal Island, Davao

Nature.

Aside from the oceans, the rest of Mother Nature's magnificence is an ideal location for a budding romance as well. Imagine yourself leisurely sailing in the calm waters, feeling the fresh, gentle wind brush through your face and her soft skin against your cheek…

· Palawan. Miles of sandy white beaches, crystal clear water plus various tropical flora and fauna provide a romantic getaway for twosomes. Enjoy the grandeur of nature untouched with honey-bunny by your side and feel like monarchs of your own realm. · Pagsanjan Falls. A scenic spot where cliffs and tropical forests overhang the V-shaped ravine exaggerating the dramatic 25 meter drop of Pagsanjan Falls which hides itself in the innermost part of the gorge. Find your own hideaway and snuggle in the cool air that envelopes the lush greenery and towering cliffs of Pagsanjan.

History.

Who says history is text-book boring? Stepping on the exact site where the heroes of our country are remembered can set off sparks of emotion. These historical places can be more romantic than you can ever imagine.

· Intramuros. Jaymie, 22, recommends this place at dusk walking amid the ruins and all its historical richness. "Watch the sunset from the wall," she suggests. "It was really nice for us noon kasi it was totally unplanned, we didn't spend all that much, but it was really sweet and romantic," she recalls and adds, "wear comfortable shoes though." · Corregidor. A guided tour with your darling to the different sights of this historically significant spot can bring about romance as you hold hands checking out the memorials, shrines and ruins of the place.

Imagination.

Any place can have a romantic touch. As Jaymie puts it, "you dont have to shell out a lot of money to have a great date. All you need is imagination." True enough, even the university football field with a candle-lit dinner set-up can bring any girl the romantic tingles. With the right ambience and the right person by your side, anywhere is just perfect.
